Subject – Zombies Rise Up in Cambridge

Contacts – for all enquires please email [email protected]

Shoppers in Cambridge will be in for a surprise on Saturday morning, as hundreds of the un-dead will take to the streets!

The group @zombiegeddon_uk have used twitter and facebook as well as other social media to contact zombies from across the uk to come to Cambridge to enjoy its history and to celebrate there Halloween in style.

“While the aim is for our zombies to have fun”- says Tyler Mortimer of zombiegeddon “we can’t ignore some of the negative stereotypes we see about zombies everyday. After all peanuts are just as dangerous but we don’t see them in blockbuster movies full of violence”

Most zombies just want to go about the un-dead lives in peace. Support groups like @zombiesunite.org and @zombierights also fight the never ending torrent of bad press the zombie community receive.

In the sprit of Halloween we invite you to come joooiiinnnn ussss!

There will be some great photo opportunities as well as a chance to get to know a zombie like never before.

You can find out more by visiting the face book group

Why?

For to long our kind (zombies) have been seen as brain dead useless and down right evil…. But not any more! Were here to show Cambridge that we may not have brains but we still have hearts!

For humans Halloween is a time to dress like us and mimic us...when really they need to embrace us as members of there community.

All we want is to go about our undead lives in peace!

Its time to stand up for the rights of zombies not just in the UK but all over the world #Zombiesunite

Stage one
The rules – there are a few rules we ask you stick to throughout the zombiegeddon.

Be ready for 1pm this is when the zombie walk will start! No sooner no later!

The first rule is that you do not talk about the details of the event leading up to the zombiegeddon…even when travelling to the event (We need the element of surprise)

Rule 2 – we cannot block doorways or roads, go in to shops and generally be disruptive. This will make our flash mob illegal so just enjoy being a zombie.

Rule 3- do not eat people! We ask you use “the ghost train technique” this means you may wish to reach out to people (members of the public) and eat their brains but DO NOT actually touch them!

Rule 4 – very simple; enjoy being a zombie once the walk has started do not lose your character remain a zombie until we are finished!

Stage 2

Prepare yourself – look up some zombie walks on You Tube to familiarise yourself with the concept
you don’t have to travel as a zombie and it’s probably best you don’t. If you can apply your make up once in Cambridge please do so.

Hoodies and scarf’s etc. make great disguises! So try to cover up as much as possible before the march!

Know the route and THE RULES before you get there (see map)
on the day stick together in groups of 3 to 5 and spread the hoard out so that the train of zombies is longer.

There’s some tutorial make up videos online that are great and easy to find on You Tube.

Once the event is done we will compile all the footage or as much of it as we can into one massive video.

There may be press there remember rule 4 stay in your zombie character.

Keep your eyes peeled! In the next few days the events page on face book is going to go mad with updates. Please try your best to keep up to date

The plan
There are many different routes to Cambridge and all of our zombies will be coming from different places.

The plan is to meet up at forbidden planet Cambridge. Between 12pm and 1pm on the 27th October.

The march will start at 1pm on the dot!

We would also ask that some of you join the zombie walk thought out the route so it looks like our horde is getting bigger all the time! Christ’s pieces would be great for this. It has loads of space for you to hide the fact that your zombies.

We will signal the start of the march with a horn noise.

Once we have set off from Forbidden Planet (see map) hobble and crawl along the pedestrian walk to Christ pieces (others may join in here to make it look as if our march is getting bigger) we follow the route till we hit the end.

We will hold up there until the back end of the march has caught up and we are together again.

The same horn will signal the end of the march. At the point it is vital that we disperse quickly and in multiple directions the idea is to make it look like it never happened.

We encourage those old enough to JOOIIINNN USSS at
The Regal in Regent st (pub) for a few drinks afterwards.

thats all for now

stay tuned!

Picture
A flash mob (or flashmob) is a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and sometimes seemingly pointless act for a brief time, and then disperse, often for the purposes of entertainment and/or satire. Flash mobs are organized via telecommunications, social media, or viral emails The term, coined in 2003, is generally not applied to events and performances organized for the purposes of politics (such as protests), commercial advertisement, publicity stunts that involve public relation firms, or paid professionals

our aim is to do this at Halloween in Cambridge (Saturday the 29th) with anyone who would like to get involved it would sure as hell be fun!!! And that’s the aim it’s got to be fun and safe.

There will be 3 stages to this event with exact information becoming available shortly before the actual march so make sure you keep your eyes peeled.

There are a lot of different flash mobs zombie walks etc available on youtube I suggest you have a look to see what we are trying to aim for.

I have change the event to the Saturday for a few reasons mainly there are always more people in Cambridge and I am sure we will have lots of hungry zombies!! And we want a lot of people to witness the zombie march ... not only that, Saturday is a better day for most people.

So dress as a zombie and hunt for some brains tell your friends (BUT KEEP IT A SECRATE) you can be as original as you like or stick to the classic brain dead zombies. The wilder and more unusual the better.

We are currently looking to fill a few main roles in the organisation of the hoard.

We need a production team available to record the event although we encourage you to take a camera yourself and document the day, write a blog share on facebook or twitter.

If you think you can help in any areas at all please let us know it would be great to get your ideas and thoughts?

You can follow us on twitter @zombiegeddon_uk or #zombiegeddon share our events page on facebook or even use the flyer above.

Above all have fun
